Smart hands and remote hands at Sydney data centres
eWEB TEC is a Sydney IT company, since 2003, that sends technicians onto the floor at named colo halls when your own people cannot be there. Smart hands follows your MOP — rack, cabling, parts, console. Remote hands is directed work while you stay on the phone.

Which ticket
The job decides the ticket, not the marketing name. If you can talk someone through every step, that is remote hands. If the person on the floor has to judge a rack drawing or a fault, that is smart hands.
| If the job is | Book |
|---|---|
| Power cycle, look at a light, reseat a cable, insert a USB, place a loop | Remote hands |
| Rack a server, dress fibre or copper, swap a drive or PSU from a MOP, receive a shipment | Smart hands |
| You are not sure, or the floor may not match the runbook | Call +61 407 453 817. We will say which ticket, or that we should not take it. |
A remote-hands hour is the wrong way to rebuild a cabinet. A smart-hands ticket is the wrong way to bounce one switch. Full lists live on the two service pages.
Halls we name
Streets below are operator-published. Access is per hall. Confirm the live process in the operator portal before the window. The full table, including how we treat Rosebery/Botany and NextDC Artarmon, is on smart hands and the orientation guide.
| Hall | Street | Suburb |
|---|---|---|
| Equinix SY1 / SY2 | 639 Gardeners Rd | Mascot 2020 |
| Equinix SY3 | 47 Bourke Rd | Alexandria 2015 |
| Equinix SY4 / SY5 | 200 Bourke Rd | Alexandria 2015 |
| Global Switch | 400 Harris St | Ultimo 2007 |
| NextDC S1 | 4 Eden Park Dr | Macquarie Park 2113 |
| NextDC S2 | 6–8 Giffnock Ave | Macquarie Park 2113 |
| CDC Eastern Creek (EC1–EC4) | 17 Roberts Rd | Eastern Creek 2766 |
| CDC Marsden Park | 105–113 Hollinsworth Rd | Marsden Park 2765 |
We do not invent extra URLs for Rosebery, Botany, Waterloo or St Peters — those streets sit on the Equinix Mascot–Alexandria campus. NextDC S3/S6 are on Broadcast Way, Artarmon (same suburb as our office). Named NextDC coverage here is S1 and S2; other NextDC halls are booked once access is confirmed.
AirTrunk, Macquarie Data Centres and Vocus Sydney are attended when we hold current access for that customer. We do not advertise a guaranteed arrival time at every building in Sydney.
What to put on the ticket
A ticket that only says “Sydney Equinix” will bounce. Send the hall, not the suburb.
- Hall — IBX or building name (SY2, S1, Harris Street, EC3)
- Cage or suite — and how we are already booked in the operator portal
- The work — a MOP for smart hands, or numbered steps for remote hands
- Parts or media — on site, in receiving, or coming with us
- Window — including after-hours if that is when the change is
If the floor does not match the runbook we stop and call you. We do not improvise a rebuild on a remote-hands ticket.
Equinix also sells its own Smart Hands product to tenants. We are a third-party engineer you clear onto the cage — useful when you want the same people who already know your MOP, or when the job sits across more than one operator.
Who this is for
Typical callers are a NOC without Sydney floor staff, a colo tenant whose own engineers are interstate or overseas, or an MSP that needs someone already cleared at the hall. Office PC and Mac work stays on the Northern Beaches and North Shore — that is a different van, not this page.
We have done this work since 2003 from Artarmon. There is a Northern Beaches base in Narrabeen. Neither address is a substitute for Equinix access at Gardeners Road.
Which Sydney data centres does eWEB TEC attend?

Smart hands or remote hands?
Remote hands is directed work while you stay on the phone: reboot, check a light, reseat a cable, insert media, place a loop. Smart hands is a technician who can follow your MOP, rack gear, dress cables and troubleshoot. Book the one that matches the job. Both run 24/7 at the halls we name.
Equinix already sells Smart Hands. Why use eWEB TEC?
Equinix sells its own Smart Hands product to tenants. eWEB TEC is a third-party engineer you clear onto the cage. Use us when you want the same people who already know your MOP, or when the job sits across more than one operator. We work 24/7 once that access is in place.
What do you need on the ticket before we go?
The hall (IBX or building name, not just the suburb), cage or suite, how access is already booked in the operator portal, the MOP or the exact directed steps, any parts or media, and the window. If the floor does not match the runbook we stop and call you.
Do you work at CDC Eastern Creek and Marsden Park?
Yes. CDC Eastern Creek is 17 Roberts Road — halls EC1–EC4 are live (EC5 and EC6 as they come online). CDC Marsden Park is 105–113 Hollinsworth Road. Name the building on the ticket; that campus is still being built out.
Do you cover Rosebery, Botany, Waterloo and St Peters?
Yes. They sit on the same Equinix campus as Gardeners Road and Bourke Road. Name the hall on the ticket.
Need someone on the floor?
Call +61 407 453 817 with the hall and the job. Or send the ticket and we will call back.
